About Me
I live in Sydney, Australia. I've enjoyed photography since I was a kid, and I've owned a number of film and digital cameras over the years. My first SLR was a Zenit E , which was built like a tank, pretty basic, but opened up the world of interchangeable lenses. My last film camera was a lovely Canon EOS50. On the way, I dabbled in black and white darkroom work, using the laundry and lots of black plastic. It was great fun, but after killing zillions of brain cells due to heat and chemical fumes, I decided to give it away.Around 2005 I took the plunge, sold my Canon and lenses, and bought my first digital camera, an Olympus 3 megapixel point and shoot. I wanted a smaller camera, getting away from all the weight, camera bag full of lenses etc etc.
I soon missed the weight, camera bag full of lenses etc, so in 2006 I upgraded to a digital SLR, the Nikon D70. I chose Nikon based mainly on price - the D70 was, for me, the first really affordable DSLR. This camera was going to be the camera that lasted me for many years to come - 6 MP, lots of smarts, excellent build and image quality - what more could I want?
Two years later (and while my wife was away on holidays), I purchased a Nikon D300. Bigger, heavier, with more useful features that I'll probably never use, it's my current camera. It's a wonderful piece of equipment, and will last me many, many years.
I love to travel and take shots of different cultures, landscapes and people.
