High Dynamic Range imaging is a photographic technique that allows a greater range between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than current standard digital imaging techniques can achieve. This allows HDR images to more accurately represent the range of intensity levels found in real scenes, although the effect can be overdone, resulting in surreal and unnatural pictures.
